We purchased a beautiful ham hock from our friends who run an amazing business Piggy In The Middle
Had to get hubby to purchase some green split peas while he was at the shops. I sent him a text message with a photo to help him out. About 30 minutes later, I received a phone call from him!
Here is my simple recipe for the slow cooker😀
1 smoked ham hock approx 750g
1 onion diced
2-3 carrots diced
1-2 stalks of celery (I didn’t have any so used zucchini)
2.5L of water
500g green split peas washed well
1 tablespoon moussaka spice
3 cloves of garlic sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
Place all ingredients in slow cooker and cook on high for 4-5 hours. Shred ham hock meat and serve.
Tip: Purée soup using a stick blender to hide the veges from the kids.
